The weekly magazine Le Point publishes an annual list of the best 50 hospitals. The public hospitals surveyed must offer a full range of medical and surgical services, hospitals and clinics offering a specialist service are surveyed separately.
The title of best public hospital (CHU - Centre Hospitalier Universitaire) has swung between Toulouse and Lille for some years and this year Lille comes out top, with Toulouse second and Bordeaux third.
