Homes for insects

Some time ago TAG ran an idea about making homes for flying insects and bees by drilling holes in logs, rather than buying a rather expensive looking alternative from a bee/insect hole driller in the garden fairs. Yesterday we saw the idea in action as a reader had put up a collection of different sized logs, with different sized holes. Already many of the holes have been completely inhabited with the insects having blocked the holes from which in due course new bees, moths, caterpillars etc will emerge.

Here at Mas del Sol lots of our beams have similar holes from which saw dust usually emerges...
