Storks passing through

Passers-by in the Pyrenean town of Foix were surprised to see dozens of storks resting in various locations about the centre. Storks migrate to southern Africa, many using the western route via Spain. It is not known why they decided to rest at  Foix, but probably meteorological conditions reduced the thermals the birds need to soar on as they are too big to be able to flap their wings for long periods.
