We are having a leisurely morning as the naughty dogs were out following the chasse yesterday evening, not arriving back till the late hours of the night. A very worrying time as we kept hearing shots along with all the barking. Defintely dogs on their leads up here now for the winter, when they are not locked in the yard and garden.
Disturbing stories on BBC news, one about the cable car stuck all night above Mount Blanc, 42 people could not be rescued till morning. The cable car chains had got tangled in the high winds. Some were rescued by helicopter, there were over 100 initially but then high winds made it too dangerous for the " copter" What a scary experience.
Stranded cabins above the Mont Blanc yesterday |
This happened to us once in Palm Springs when our cable car stopped working and got stuck. I was fed up as we had dashed to get the car, I had wanted the loo beforehand but everyone said " there are toilets at the top" Imagine the agony for a few hours, not just worrying about being stuck.
Glad to see all are down safely today.
The other story which made me wonder about other humans in this world, the South African lions. These are being bred in captivity to be taken out into closed reserves, with no escape for the lion targets and then American tourists pay to go and shoot them!! What sort of person would get any pleasure from killing a lion used to people, trophy killing holidays. Some folk are just sick. This last story is not French news but I feel better getting it off my chest!
