We are currently in Poland for a family wedding and noticed a big shopping mall/estate, driving near Gdansk airport.
There are lots of shops - including big French brands like Leroy-Merlin, Carrefour, Auchan, Decathlon and Norauto.
Doubtless without the EU it would have been difficult for them to establish a presence here, and doubtless without the EU it would have been hard for local people to have been able to afford to shop in them.
I am not making an argument for dominance of the EU by one or two countries. On the contrary you can easily see how it has become a win-win for all involved.
Unfortunately the small-minded "leavers", who reacted to a few Polish shops in inner cities in the former UK are now going to deprive the Britain of the ability to be part of the project which is very sad.
Best regards
David.
