This 14th July will be the last Champs Elysees procession attended by the President of the Republic before his term ends. Marking the anniversary of the battle of the Somme there will be a detachment of Australian and New Zealand troops. Some 3000 security personnel will be deployed to guard against the terrorist threat.
The President will also speak to the nation tonight in his customary TV address and interview, on TF1 and France 2 at 20h. he is expected to be questioned on the effects of Brexit.
