This year's Puycelsi Music festival organised by HARP is featuring the music of Bohemia, featuring works by Dvorak, and his compatriots. As has happened for the last ten years a choir comes together to practice together and then perform. For the first time this year there will also be a chamber orchestra formed and playing both in its own concert and accompanying the choir.
Three of the concerts are in Puycelsi. The first is next Saturday 23rd July at 21.00 when the soloists will performing Czech chamber music and songs from the seventeenth to the twentieth century. I think that this is a particularly exciting concert and am looking forward to hearing it.. On Tuesday 26th at 20.30 there will be a chamber concert and the final choral concert will be in Puycelsi on Friday 28th at 19.30.
Tickets for these Puycelsi concerts are priced at €15 for Adults, €10 for Students and Children under 10 free.
Puycelsi has three restaurants all of which will be open for meals before or indeed afterwards depending on the time of the concert but booking is recommended. This year La Locale the epicerie fine in the village is offering picnics for those who would like to have a lighter bite in the open air.
Thursday 28th at 20.30 the choir will be joining the orchestra to perform in Gaillac and after this concert there will be the opportunity to join the singers in a reception at the square in front of the Maison du Vin. Prices for this concert are €18 for Adults including the reception, €15 without the reception, €10 for Students and children under 10 free. Children and students are admitted to the reception free accompanied by an adult who has bought a ticket for it.
