A motorist received a PV claiming he had been travelling at 229kph on a 90kph route nationale. He disputed the reading, saying that his Renault Kangoo may be a "Vitesse" model, but is physically incapable of such speeds.
Undaunted the gendarmes produced a photograph of him at the wheel. Eventually, confronted with the vehicle, completely original with no souped up engine under the bonnet, the agents accepted that it must be a bug with the radar they were using and dropped the charges. No other infractions were noted.
