A warm morning but lacking the sun as yet.
Lovely to go out this morning and see four faces lined up at the fence, taking up their former positions, Rosie ensuring she gets the first bucket of donkey croquettes.
Had a chat to them all and they told me how happy they are to be together.
It is a bit of a difficult situation. I looked after the two boy donkeys for two years whilst the owner looked round for a farm with a field to rent. Last autumn the donkeys were taken to her new property and now they are back just for the summer. Julia, the donkeys' owner, owns a couple of fields over the road but no point putting the donkeys there without mine. Filou the male breaks out every time that has been tried. Julia loves her donkeys so there is no point in me making the suggestion for me to have them full time.
I hate the thought of them being broken up again in the autumn after the holidays are over It is hard for the herd.. but then I am a softie and perhaps I worry and give them human feelings.
I do know my girls shouted for the boys for days last time. Oh! well enjoy the summer all.
