Two concerts we wish we were at

St Corneille, Puycelsi. Pic Stuart Cryer
This evening we were not able to go to the concert at the church of St Corneille in Puycelsi. The chorale concerts there are normally unmissable, with local choristers joining soloists from the Toulouse conservatoire under the leadership of Mark Opstad. We are advised that the September concert will be definitely unmissable, featuring music from Handel's "Messiah", but would still have loved to be at Puycesi this evening.
Jordi Savall with an Afghan refugee
Another concert we would have loved to be at was given by the Catalan musician Jordi Savall in the migrant camp at Calais yesterday. Savall plays the viola da gamba, a kind of cello, and was introduced to us by a couple of local Dutch musicians who are aficionados of Renaissance music. The maestro played with a group of musicians drawn from the refugees, from several different countries. We wonder if we could get Jordi Savall to give a charity concert here.. over to you Rieky.
