Joel pulls out

Joel Robuchon is France's most Michelin  "starred"  chef, but has quit the management of a prestigious Bordeaux restaurant "La Grande Maison", because he claims there is not an "economic equilibrium", which we think means he makes not enough money. The restaurant is owned by Bernard Magrez,  a leading wine producer and will continue in operation, but with a more modest 40-60 euro choice of menus. About 15 tables of the 40 available will be reserved for top end dining, but not from M Robuchon. The restaurant has 2 stars, but was marred earlier by claims of bullying of junior kitchen staff. M Robuchon will advise M Magrez in the appointment of a new chef. The owner himself suggested that there was insufficient clientele in Bordeaux to support a 3 star restaurant. Seems surprising then that Michel Bras can manage in the Aubrac, miles from any major city.
