Paris 2024

The Olympic committee yesterday confirmed the widely known news that Paris will host the 2024 Olympic Games (and Los Angeles in 2028).
One hundred years after the previous games in France, the news has been (almost) universally welcomed. The maire of Paris, Anne Higalgo, has promised no increase in taxes during her tenure to specifically fund the Games, though no doubt many infrastructure changes will be needed. Events will be held in 38 sites, not all in the capital.
Tony Estanguet is co-president of the organising committee for the bid and says that now it is for the athletes and coaches to prepare for this historic opportunity for the young people of France.

PS Val says our young Annie will be 18 in 2024 - perhaps a bit young for Paris, but she'll be getting her spikes on!
