Beware of grapes on the road

The vendange is well under way and motorists (and cyclists) may be surprised in Lot and Garonne to see an unusual warning sign by the roadside.

The growers generally fill large skips with the harvest of grapes which can leak juice onto the road surface, creating a risk for drivers.
The sign does not appear in the Code de la Route and some have suggested that it means an over-consumption of the products of the grape can cause erratic steering...
