Hi Val,
Well what a storm that was, luckily, other than a few trees down in
our woods we got away with it fairly lightly up on the Causse. A few
things that might be of interest to your readers. We are totally off
grid with sol;ar panels & a wind generator that for safety's sake cuts
off at wind speeds of 100mph - it cut off... enough said! We survived
with electricity intact and no power cut. As we are off grid i do not
freeze things, i bottle instead which is a fantastic way of preserving
all our surplus produce (of which we have a lot) for years to come. We
run our house, my sons cabin, our gite & b&b all from 1000 watts. How
can this be possible? low energy everything from a 19 watt fridge to
350 watt hairdryers, it is possible just needs a bit of thought. AAA
rated stuff is rarely what it says it is & there are often better
items available if you search around.
If anyone would like info on alternative energy or bottling give us a
call 0563305377.
On another note entirely i will be in touch tomorrow with dates for an
aid run to Calais in our bus which we can hopefully fill up with
useful items for the end of October.
Very best Laura
Val says very interesting Laura on both the electricity and the bottling. If we have too much stuff when we load the lorryit is good to know we have another oportunity. BRILLIANT
