"Permis provencal"

Well known former model Ines de la Fressange, today described as a "stylist", bought a property overlooking the Rhone with superb views. She decided to build a couple of outbuildings in the grounds, contrary to the "servitudes" in the deeds. So rather than apply for a permis de construire she simply, in the words of the judge, used the traditional method: grant yourself a "permis provencal" and get on with it.

Ramblers reported the intrusion into the landscape but despite a municipal warning the work continued. Now a local court has ordered her to demolish the buildings. Miss de la Fressange intends to appeal.
