“This doyenne of Fleet Street delivers her observations with precision, style and wit. Funny, sensible and smart... an absolute delight” The Scotsman
Virginia Ironside writes a regular column for the Independent Newspaper and the OIdieMagazine. Her latest comic novel is “No! I Don’t Need Reading Glasses!
Her first book, Chelsea Bird, was published at the age of nineteen. During the 1960s she wrote a rock music column for the Daily Mail newspaper.
In her one-woman show she explains why unlimited free drugs, fun funerals, grandchildren and sex – or, even better, no sex – make growing old the best (and funniest) time of your life. Directed by Nigel Planer, this show wapremiered at the Edinburgh Festival in 2009.

Her show is really funny. I urge you to see it”Arthur Smith on Radio 4’s Loose Ends.

Honest, irreverent, frank charm. Beautiful humour and perfect poise. This is a five-star show.” British Theatre Guide
