The Abbaye de Sylvanes in south Aveyron hosts an annual feast of sacred music and this year is no exception. Until 28th August there will be concerts of music from Gregorian chant to forgotten Jewish songs dating from 14th century Provence, where Jews were protected by the Avignon popes. Modern music is not forgotten, with Arvo Part and Messaien included, as well as Mozart and Verdi.
Choirs and singers from all faiths and countries will fill the magnificent space for the rest of the month.
