The traditional movement of animals, especially sheep, to their summer quarters on higher ground has become as much a tourist attraction as an agricultural necessity. This weekend there will be three such events in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Farmers group their troupes together and drive them on foot to the higher pastures. Usually followed for some of the way by almost as many spectators the journeys can take a few days, and true to form will end with a repas communal. These events will take place not just in the Pyrenees, but also in the massif central to the north of our region. Ask your tourist information for details.
