I realised yesterday when shopping that the price of fresh milk over here is about half what it is in the UK but my reaction to farmers demanding more money for milk is interestingly different.
I dont want farmers over here to receive more while in the UK, I do. Is it because I am irritated by the French farmers protests in very dramatic ways and so getting further subsidies from the state or is it because I have sentimental memories of the doorstep milkman, the cream of the top of the milk on my cerial for childhood breakfasts and Jersey milk to drink for strong bones?
Semi-skimmed pasturised milk with a shelf life of about two week is certainly not the same and UHT is disgusting!
