No more Midi Pyrenees?

The President has proposed reducing the number of regions from 22 to 14. Our Region has its HQ in Toulouse and is set to merge with Languedoc Roussillon, where Montpellier holds the reins. Some politicians in the southern region have mooted a merger to form the old province of Languedoc but it is easy to see that a battle for influence and power will follow between Toulouse and Montpellier. Perhaps they will all move to Beziers, where the recently elected FN supported maire would probably be delighted to annexe the whole of SW France.
Val says not sure I want to merge with Languedoc Roussillon, nothing against that area but a totally different one to Midi Pyrenees with different landscapes etc, think of northern Aveyron compared with Perpigan. Totaly different problems and concerns. Malc and I thought we would merge with Aquitaine. Any thoughts readers?
