This machine tells tales

If you have a few minutes to wait for a train at Toulouse Matabiau railway station, you can pass them reading a short story or poem from a ticket machine.
The service is free and over 40000 new stories are available. You tell the machine if you have one, three or five minutes to spare and it prints for you a suitably long story on paper.
Most machines in stations dispense over-priced chocolate bars or drinks, so it is a pleasant change, according to SNCF, to have some free intellectual stimulation. As part of the rail operator's efforts to bring more "culture" to its waiting areas there are now over 100 stations with free to use pianos and now a short story machine. Cynics might suggest less overcrowding on trains running on time might please travellers more.
