Nous sommes le dimanche vingt mars

Dry and mild at the moment but rain is forecast later.
Exciting mornings as a pair of kestrels are checking out the nesting holes again. They make such a noise screeching at each other, possible warning cries as we or  the dogs appear. It is just a treat having your breakfast with a beautifully marked kestrel swooping past your window. It must be the pair from last year or could it be even an earlier chick from a previous year.
We do hope they decide to nest yet again. The  two years they decided against nesting, one we were plagued by magpies. ( sorted by reducing the height of the field hedge) and then another year where we had people renting the gite and the activity on the terrace put them off (the kestrels not the renters!).
I will find a picture of the kestrels and babies to remind you of the treat we may have in store.
