Glad you weren't there

The péage station at Toulouse Sud was like a scene from a movie last night (Friday 19th) when police tried to intercept a "go-fast". A powerful 4x4 had been tracked on the route from Spain, but when the police tried to stop it at the péage gunshots broke out, the car turned round and set off in the opposite direction. Weaving through the on-coming traffic the car collided with another vehicle and was eventually brought to a halt by the gendarmes. Nobody was injured by the incident and nothing has been said yet about what the car was carrying. "Go-fasts" are powerful cars, often in convoy, used by drug smugglers to move contraband from Spain into France.
