We were watching France 2 tele matin a few minutes ago when the re-enactment of the battle of Waterloo was shown. Who was there on his horse? Frank Sansom retired Paris lawyer who has played Napoleon in the last few years but now he is passing on his boots and medals to the next pretender. Made us smile to see the rather rotund Napolean.

Malc says: I was surprised at Stephane Bern's suggestion that "unfortunately for us" (ie the French) Blucher's arrival turned the tide when Napoleon had Wellington on the ropes. That may be so, but would a victory for Napoleon, for all his abilities as a leader and reformer, have been a good thing for Europe or France?
