If you live in or around Varen and have a golden retriever keep it locked in the garden. This morning Francoise our post lady stopped for a chat and to give us a parcel. She asked where Bonny was and there she was fast asleep in the sunny courtyard. "Does she go off on her own in to Varen?"we were asked. The answer is never and the way she is at the moment she hardly ever leaves our side.
Francoise lives with her " chasse" family on a farm just out of Varen and yesterday a golden retriever just like Bonny killed a couple of their ducks. Now once the dog has been it will go back, after so much fun. When we talk of guns and protecting your farm this is one place where the chasse often meet and it would be best to keep your dog from going there.
If you know anyone with a golden that strays please pass on the warning.
