We have on the salon, double doors and then glass panels on each side of each door giving a wonderful panorama of the surrounding countryside which includes the donkeys' field. About this time every year we start discussing the large sapin/ Christmas tree which is about 4 metres away from this window. Each year I insist we cut the top of and use it as our Christmas tree so that it does not block the view and make the salon dark. Each year Malc tries to resist as he hates the thought of cutting down trees. I am amazed each time we do it, it survives and makes a new growing point even if slightly off kilter. As we were at our daughter's in England last winter for Christmas, it missed its chop and this year is larger than ever.
It has to go - but when should I start the "I think the tree is beginning to block the view, Malcolm"

Imagine this Christmas tree 10 metres high |
