It does seem to me that certain of us Brits, Dutch , and other new residents in France drink too much and have violent, aggressive fights sometimes ending up with one partner killing the other. I do not mean this is a normal occurrence but trawling the news for interesting items for TAG I often come upon posts like the following.
A " hollandaise tue son compagnon à coups de hache" This happened in the Dordogne in an argument between a couple. I wonder if leaving one's country of origin for a better life does not always work and when disillusionment sets in, the drinking starts. Beware the demon drink, consume in moderation!
Malc says I am completely missing the point that French couples do this and this story is about the hatchet in the neck! He is allowed his say.
