As you know my computer was down in a big way earlier this week. Now, I pride myself on being pretty knowledgeable about computers, but this problem had me stumped.Being a typically stubborn male who hates to ask for advice I resisted getting help, but finally broke down & called James. It was either that or an expensive new computer. James came over yesterday.
The problem was that the keyboard on my laptop wouldn't work. I could type in my password OK, but couldn't type in anything else. I'd tried everything I could think of. James went through all the logical things to do to no avail until, that is, he pressed and held down a key. Low & behold if you did that it would type, but it took about 5 seconds to react. Puzzling! James then went onto the Internet and found a site that described this problem.
Turned out it was a setting in the set up for the 'Ease of Access' where one could set up the delay after pressing a key. James turned this feature off and I had my computer back.
Thus I can highly recommend James Sweeting. This was a pretty obscure problem, but James's knowledge and logical approach got us there in the end. Thank you James!
