The assembly seat of disgraced Budget Minister, Jerome Cahuzac, at Villeneuve sur Lot (Lot et Garonne) had the first round of a bye election yesterday. Top of the poll was the UMP maire of Fumel, closely followed by the FN candidate. The Socialist Party candidate came third and was eliminated as the left vote was split. This is the 8th seat to lost by the governing party and puts pressure on Francois Hollande. He said the scandal made it unsurprising that he lost. Nothing to do with policies then?
