Lawn mower's GPS tracked thief

When a robotic lawn mower strays out of its designated area it sends a "distress" signal to its home base. So when a thief spotted a 5000 euro machine in a private garden and decided to cut through the fence to steal it he reckoned without its GPS. The owner was alerted that it had joined the main road out of town and followed the signal in his car, having contacted the gendarmes.

The particular machine was designed to cover large areas so could easily be out of sight of the owner and the thief reckoned that he could sell it to ease his debt problems. He surrendered his booty to the gendarmes without trouble and it is now restored to its rightful territory.
