New electricity meters

A new system of monitoring use and billing for electricity is being rolled out by EDF over the next 5 years. Meters called "Linky" automatically monitor use and send the consumption details to the supplier.
Some environmentalists claim that this will mean a substantial rise in electromagnetic energy in our homes, potentially a threat to health. Equally the data gathered could be used for commercial purposes - changing tariffs, offering insulation etc. Not to forget you will no longer have your cheery meter reader twice a year.
Public meetings are being held in St Antonin on Friday 10th February, 20h30 in the Mairie and on Saturday 11th February at 10h30 in the Salle des Fetes at Penne.
If you are concerned about the effects of the new meters and how they can be prevented, the meetings may help (they will of course be in French).
