Prime Minister resigns

The French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has resigned, as expected, to pursue a nomination in the left primary for presidential office.
With the PS already divided by the "frondistes", headed by Arnaud Montebourg, opposed to the more liberal economic policies it will be Valls's policy to try and unite the party. Since the far left under Melenchon will not take part in the primary and are determined to present their own presidential candidate (currently projected to receive about 12% in the first round) it is difficult to see how Valls can live down the Hollande legacy.
