The dechetterie is not open till Wednesday so we thought we would try and burn some of the garden rubbish. Buckets of water at the ready to control the big blaze but of course getting the fire started and keeping it going was more the problem.
We look at all our grounds and this was the only area we have never touched or tidied, as we uncover the old cart, the piles of stone and lots of brambles we remember why!
But it has been a great day for gardening and the tendrils of smoke in my eyes and hair make me nostaligic for all the lovely garden bonfires we have had in the autumn in the past.
Not sure they are really allowed now.
I am back in the house for that needed cup of tea, as Malc the stalwart keeps stoking the flames.
