Bells ring in solidarity

The Assumption fete yesterday saw a show of solidarity by churches throughout France and elsewhere with the eastern Christian refugees. Over 100000 Christians have fled Syria in the last 10 years and in Iraq their numbers have fallen by over 1 million in 20 years. The Archbishop of Lyon called for the church bells to be rung as a mark of respect for the suffering many have faced with the rise of militant Islamism. Over 30000 people attended a service in Lourdes, with about 100 refugees from Iraq in the congregation. So perhaps churches are involved in dealing with the "crisis" and maybe the refugees at Calais are not potential Muslim terrorists and "Songs of Praise" from their makeshift church is a valid broadcast.
