The famous Country Music Festival at Mirande in the Gers has attracted thousands of line dancers, musicians and just good old boys for over 20 years. The colourful posters promising top American bands and JR look-alikes always brought a touch of the mid-west to the south west until it was placed in liquidation last year.
Now judicial enquiries have led to the arrest of the two previous organisers as well as the mayor of Mirande, accused of "abuse of confidence, use of illegal workers and illegal distribution of monies".
