Bio refinery for the Tarn

Two Toulouse graduates set up a research company CIMV to investigate how to produce carburants from bio products such as straw. The company has received 20 million euros of EU funding (for an investment of 50 million) to build a research centre in the Tarn near Buzet. The 2.5 hectare site will be built in 2016 and hopes in the longer term to create 500 jobs.
The company says it can safely and without pollution separate the three major products from the straw in a step towards creating alternative forms of oils and petrol.
