So John Tavener has passed. A master of the 'avant garde'. It is difficult to imagine a world without any more of his contributions.
I remember recording his 'The Protecting Veil' with Steven Isserlis in Glasgow City Halls just ahead of it's debut at the Albert Hall Proms 1989.
It blew my mind.
I've never been the same since.
