Every where I go I am asked by French people who have heard about TAG, why can it not be in French?
Certainly my French would not be up to the translation and even Malc thinks he would make too many errors, even if he felt he had the time.
As Malc points out each time I am asked, the French know all about Toussaint, the nuances of the French language and me trying to explain about French life and festivals would have French readers saying, well we know all that.
Where TAG would be good for the French community is to tell them of things happening generally in the area and information about services that are being offered. There may even be people who are interested in hens and donkeys although Malc doubts that and thinks it will just confirm to most of them that the English are mad.
Regardless of this I would like to ask if there are any French readers reading this who would like to create a French label and pick out information that would be useful. There may even be French readers who would send articles in French which would be of interest to us and we could all end up reading the French news label to improve our French.
This project would have the support of Gina Connelly at the library of Parisot who has been urging me to do it, as have many other French friends.
Do you know I feel quite excited thinking about it. I need someone who has the time to gather the information for the label and send it and I will then add it to the French news label. Things like "for sale " could become " a vendre" as we all understand that and adverts for things for sale could be in French or English, as usually with a picture and price it is self explanatory. Wild photos could be viewed by all etc.
It is the sort of thing we could develop as we go.
So now we need to find someone French with a little time, a bit of skill and a desire to help the community.
If you know anyone who might like to do this but does not read TAG tell them about it.
Just as an after thought a Dutch friend fancied doing the same thing in Dutch but all of the people we asked said " No" we Dutch are all English speakers
Also do not panic if you French is not very good, the main body and language of TAG would remain the same. ( now those who are thinking, what, remain the same drivel, that is unkind!)
