Is it a bird? Is it a fish?...No it's a..

Walking the dogs by the Aveyron in Laguepie this morning Malc met a group of holidaymakers staring attentively at what looked like a creature clinging to floating branch. Nobody had binoculars or a big enough lens to make it out but it certainly seemed to be a turtle. Now turtles are not common in the local rivers so intrepid cub reporter Malc returned with necessary accoutrements and sure enough it was a turtle. The high levels of water in the rivers and streams probably mean it has been washed down from a pond somewhere (We do know someone who has a large 30 year old turtle in his lake).
So if you've lost your turtle recently - it may be in the Aveyron and floating downstream shortly.
