Gaillac Rotary Club raise money for Sautou

The President of Gaillac Rotary Club this year is Francis Suckling who lives at Sommard, above Laguepie. Francis and his wife organised last night a curry meal  with other members of the Rotary Club and invited guests.  All 60 of us were happy to pay 30 euros a head to benefit the children of Mali, the Assoc. Via Sahel Enfants d'Afrique. That is a big sum and Francis explained it will all be going to buy a drill to make a well in a village near Bamako. Jacqui Suckling prepared a lot of  dishes herself and had some help from friends with desserts and helping serve on the evening. The curry dishes were delivered prepared by Spiced Cuisine.Well done both of you for all your efforts. I must add that the wines of the evening were all Gaillac as the three wine producers were members of the Rotary. I was sitting  next to a wine producer and apple grower. He sends a lot of his apples to the supermarkets in England, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Aldi etc. and his wife who was the wine producer was away in Holland selling to an important client. She produces white wine and it was interesting hearing how she has invested in expensive equipment to make better wine. In the summer and autumn their pickers come in buses from Spain and Poland. ( but that maybe for the apples) The wine is Domaine de Borie-Vielle and the vigneronne is Pascale Roc- Fonvielle.
On the other side of me was the new " President elect" who I spent a lot of time telling about the Nosals and their work. He has it previewed to ask Jean Marie to go and give them a talk. This man spoke Italian, Spanish, German, English and of course his native tongue French. He had a twinkle in his eye when he explained he had had girlfriends in all those countries.. and he is available, rather dishy and still looking girls! Women can join the Rotary and they only have one lady member.
For anyone interested there is also a Rotary Club at Caylus.
