UPDATE 2/8:
Baxter’s old friend Lucky came all the way up from Pau to help find him, but sadly he didn’t live up to his name. We didn’t hear Baxter at all yesterday so he may have either hunkered down or moved on. We do still need help though - anyone who has a free couple of hours and would like to bring a book and just sit quietly in the woods to listen for him. It doesn’t sound very helpful I know but it is what I am spending every spare hour doing in the hope of at least tracking his movements.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A 4x4 that would cope with logging tracks on a hillside?
Heroes needed!! Is anyone free today (Wed) and fit enough to help us find an escaped rescue dog in the woods between Sommard and Le Riols? After a day of searching we saw him last night down a dry stream bed on the hill above our house, but we lost him again in the fading light. It’s very difficult terrain - heavily wooded one side and scattered with felled trees and heaps of branches in the ravine and up the opposite hill. Hence my thought that a 4x4 would help us get closer to sit and wait on the logging tracks. I haven’t heard him barking this morning so am just sitting quietly in the hope of locating his whereabouts . Once we know where he is, a quiet many pronged approach might just help to drive him further back down the stream bed towards 'home' and the river. He has a lovely temperament, no agression whatsoever but is completely traumatised by everything that has happened to him recently. He doesn't know the area around here but since he went missing yesterday morning he has not travelled far at all - he is just on very difficult terrain, is on a hillside with no water and does not want to approach people.
