In this curious country Good Friday passes almost unnoticed. Secularism has meant that religious holidays (note the origin of the word "holy days") are not officially recognised, so the Easter weekend is just a spring break. Not that we will miss out on Ascension Day or Pentecost, or All Saints or heaven forfend, Christmas.
So while largely protestant Britain will at least mark the most holy Christian day with some token of respect, largely Catholic France will carry on as normal. Off we go to the dechetterie!
