A lady orchid just about to blossom

Orchids along our road have a tough time, to us we call it the" Orchid route" as there are so many.
When we stop to look the dogs like to come and look as well, often with dire consequences as they trample the fragile flower by accident. As soon as the orchids arrive along the verges we expect the "fauchage." It always happens just as they are all in bloom. We have tried asking if patches could be left but were met by the fauchagiste shrugging his shoulders and saying something like " I have a job to do Guv"
I may have made up the word for the driver of the big mower but it sounds right!
