Disgusted

Here I am an English lady living in France and I am ashamed of both the response of  British and French governments to this humanitarian crisis.

Whether we like it or not ... whether they should be there or not ... whether they are refugees, asylum-seekers or economic migrants ... it makes no difference. There are thousands of human beings gathered at Calais, fleeing from situations we can barely comprehend, living in terrible conditions. Two of our own Sid and Laura have seen this at first hand. I have written a few weeks ago how cold it can be in winter and how you need to have double glazing!! For those refugees already in trauma, no such luxury for them. Many without a tent over their heads, and in truth how many will suffer and perish over the winter if they live outside in such conditions. TAG reports each winter on SDF's who die in the streets (sans domile fixé, /without a fixed address, basically people living on the streets)

The UK's complete lack of action on this (apart from building a £7 million fence) is shameful. At the very least the UK government should set up some sort of a processing centre to deal with the people at Calais, allowing entry to those who are genuinely in need, and helping the French to deal appropriately with those who don't qualify for refugee/asylum status.

My country's and France's  inaction on this humanitarian crisis disgusts me.
