All down to experience

Val says we had problems 8 years ago with a rogue French joiner, who also played the courts. We ended up 10,000 euros out of pocket after the initial court proceedings and were advised  to take it further to the high courts by our advocate in Toulouse. We decided we did not want to have 4 years of turmoil and throw good money after bad so we took the loss and put it down to another  French experience. It hurt for a while but we have put it behind us now.
A lot depends on the amounts involved but it seems nigh impossible to beat the system which seems to be in favour of artisans who know all the legal dodges and are happy to go to court. They probably have " the cheats rule book"
On the other hand we have had some super work from good French and other nationality artisans. It is sorting the good from the bad that is the problem.
