Crambes at Caussade

Caussade is the hat capital of France.
On the journey  from Puylaroque to Caussade we pass Crambes. I always thought that this was a disco and that the sign was a sort of dated design based on Michael Jackson– WRONG!
It seems that Crambes is a factory, in fact, the largest hat manufacturer in Europe.
Not a dated disco
Our neighbour Francoise works there and invited us to their open day which we gratefully accepted. Crambes makes hats for some really big names, like Hermes and Crocodile, they also make the Indiana Jones hats for Euro Disney. I was amazed at the workmanship that goes into making a quality hat and I was so impressed with the various specialised sewing machines and the funky aluminium hat moulds, unfortunately I wasn’t given a free sample of any of the hats.

If you live in Puylaroque why not make contact with Geoff and French partner Martine. They seem to have access to real French life and the insight is wonderful.
