I've just read the "Never a dull moment" article. You're right in thinking that the pompiers won't deal with the bees but that a bee keeper will . A google search will bring up local beekeepers and we found that they are happy to come and collect the bees free of charge. Sue is lucky that the nest is accessible. We too have unwanted house guests who won't buzz off (pardon the pun!) but unfortunately ours have nested inside the wall of our house. The only way we can get them out is to take down a section of the external wall! Fortunately their access point is above head height, so they're OK to stay for now and we're hoping that they'll outgrow the size of their nest and move on of their own accord.
