Not always the builders fault!

I'm sure everyone has horror stories about their renovations, but it's not always the fault of the builder. When we got the first devis for our renovation it was more than we wanted/could afford to pay so we took out what we felt we could do without, such as central heating. On arriving after some time away we stood back to admire our new roof, only to be shocked to see ...no chimney. I contacted the builder to see why this had been omitted, whereupon he produced a copy of a devis in which I had decided to remove that item which I had clearly misunderstood, mea culpa. It cost me twice as much to reinstate it as I would have saved. Fortunately that was my only (major) error.
