Never a dull moment

We paid a visit to our old holiday home this morning but there was a slight access problem - between the outer and inner door a huge bees nest and thousands of bees. The nest is at least 30cms across and we were there only 10 days ago. Arriving for our holidays in the past we have discovered the aftermath of  flood, tornado, burglaries, and  infestations of loirs but this would certainly have meant a search for the nearest B&B!
The very helpful marie at Bruniquel was able to put us in touch with a beekeeper who has promised to remove it next week - luckily we do not have to get into the house urgently - we hope we do not have to resort to calling the pompiers.

Val says  I think this must be a frequent occurence here as this exact same thing happened when we were looking after a friends house. We knew the friends were arriving from England so I went in to put a duster round. I could not find the light for the stairs so thought I would feel my way up the stairs and open the shutter on the balcony window half way up. I was just about to open the window when I thought I heard a buzzing noise. I fortunately stopped and went higher up to find a light. Between the window and the shutter was the biggest bees nest you could imagine. We also got a beekeeper to come and take the swarm away. I believe the Pompiers now will not deal with bees or wasps and ask that you find a beekeeper or if wasps a pest expert.
