Me and a friend (both Dutch guys) got the (maybe) crazy idea to build a kit-car, and thought the least problem was to find a suitable place to build it. This turned out the be probably the hardest case. We spoke to a lot of (French) owners of sheds, granges etc., but nobody seems to be inclined to let out a part of his property for a certain time. What we are looking for is room to build the car, it should be dry (not heated), with about room for two cars (one to build and place for parts), possibility to lock, electricity (not high power, just for light tools), and in a circle of about 20 km from Varen. We would pay a reasonable rent and expect to use it for about two years.
If anyone is interested in letting out an unused shed, please contact Jelle Groenink at groeninkja@gmail.com.
Thanks in advance, Jelle
Val says We have not got a spare garage but I wish we had, I love cars. My Dad who died early was a mechanic and I remember he built a dashing red sports car from a kit with an engine from an old Austin eight. My Mother hated it but I loved it and often went out on trial runs, some with near disastrous consequences. I was sitting next to him once when the passenger door fell off, but as he explained when he shouted hold on to it, he was not really ready to have doors on. Malc has just sent me in to fits of laughter by asking if I had a seat belt.
As I recall we were not going very fast, that car never realised its full potential which always disappointed Dad when he had spent so long on 'fine tunning'.
